Our Stories
- Save Owere From HIV/AIDS (SOFHA) is a non-profit, community-based organization based in Pakwach District, Northern Uganda. It was founded in November 2000 by retired civil servant Mr. Peter Cwinya-Ai and received its official national NGO registration in November 2001. The organization’s primary mission is to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic, malaria, waterborne diseases, reproductive health issues, poverty, and to provide support for people with disabilities and the elderly.
- In 2003, SOFHA received a grant from the USAID-funded AIM Project, and locally, it is financed by community well-wishers to ensure its continued operation. The organization has registered approximately 527 families, with 350 of them benefiting from various projects offered by SOFHA, many of whom come from families affected by HIV/AIDS.
